We visit them often, but took the opportunity for an especially enjoyable meeting on a Tuesday in November to dive deeper into the roasting process. Tuesdays are roasting days - sacks of green coffee are opened, profiles are tested, and the smell of freshly roasted beans fills the entire roastery. Standing next to their roasters, watching each batch being monitored, measured, and adjusted to achieve the perfect balance gave us a new level of respect for their craft.
The most exciting part about this is - da Matteo has helped us create our own 031 Coffee. It's full bodied, with notes of milk chocolate and nuts. It’s fun to collaborate with people outside our industry sometimes and working local felt natural. da Matteo is a natural part of everyday life in Gothenburg. Their cafés, the people, and their craft have shaped our city’s atmosphere in a way that feels both familiar and inspiring. It is a creative place to return to, where things feel real, simple and genuinely Gothenburg.

We would describe it as more than just a café - i has become a familiar part of Gothenburg’s everyday culture. Built on a simple yet ambitious idea: to roast good coffee, bake honest bread, and create welcoming places to spend time, da Matteo has grown into a well-established presence in the city. They remain true to their craft by being thoughtful, dedicated, and consistently focused on doing things well.
Working with this team has been a lot of fun. They are exactly the kind of people you want to build something with. Creative, straightforward, and genuine. Collaborating with them on our 031 Coffee was not only exciting but truly inspiring.
